Med/surg GYN/Oncology unit, 4 Hoblitzelle

The Registered Nurse PRN conducts and participates in comprehensive Nursing assessment of assigned patients, identifies complex care problems and evaluates effectiveness of patient support services. Instructs patients and significant others in care provided, disease and/ or illness, expected outcomes, and homecare.
 
Perform individualized Nursing assessment for each assigned patient utilizing assessment skills of inspection, palpation, percussion and auscultation to obtain
physical assessment data.
 
Interpret data from all health team members and integrate it into written assessment and formulate Nursing diagnosis based on available assessment data.
 
Formulate individualized patient care plans by prescribing Nursing interventions for patient problems. Establish realistic goals for patient during hospitalization and devise teaching plan to meet learning needs which include developing teaching strategies.
 
Communicate patient care plan to health team members on continuous basis which includes giving report, providing explanation of plan of care to be given,
acting as resource person, and completing necessary documentation on various Nursing forms.
 
May perform other duties as assigned or requested
 
The Women's Health Unit is dedicated to the provision of care to female patients.  The scope of care encompasses the vast range of diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical interventions:  to include an understanding of the oncology process, the administration of chemotherapy, and pain management for the end stage disease patient. Throughout the spectrum of care the multidisciplinary team meets the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the female patient.  
 
Our staff is in tune to the needs and issues that arise in the care of a female patient, especially with the diagnosis of cancer.  The strong communication skills of the staff allow them to address quality of life concerns which include; body image, sexuality, reproduction, and end of life needs with female patients on an individual level.
 
The unit consists of 25 beds dedicated to gynecology, gynecology oncology, urogynecology and breast cancer patients.  The tranquil and serene surroundings are conducive to healing the female body and spirit. 
 
As a Registered Nurse with excellent technical and professional skills, you will be a major contributor to this unit and will be responsible and accountable for prescribing, delegating and coordinating patient care. You will also ensure that patient care meets standards of safety, effectiveness, patient rights and guest relations. You will supervise care delivered by patient care team as well as providing education for patients and staff; collaborate with other disciplines and provides direct patient care for specific patient age groups.

Qualifications

Required Education and/or Experience:
Associate of Science - Nursing
2 years of recent and relevant experience
Registered Nurse BLS/CPR
 
Shift Requirements
Hospital specific, nurse floats as required to other units within defined service line, plus one major and one minor Holiday:
Major Holidays:  Thanksgiving Eve, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
Minor Holidays: Easter, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Father's Day, July 4th and Labor Day
