GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the Standard Care Arrangement with a collaborating physician/physicians, provides general primary care services to patients of all ages; provides clinical leadership through specialized direct care, consultation, education; carries out and/or disseminates research in order to develop and enhance the quality of nursing practice, and coordinates the clinical services of assigned patients in assigned clinical areas. Complies with the State Nurse Practice Act and Scope of Practice as delineated by the Medical Staff By-laws of Lakewood Hospital .
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* MSN or MS degree required, or BS grand-fathered by the Ohio Board of Nursing
* Ability to work independently.
* Ability to accurately perform multiple tasks simultaneously and meet multiple demands.
* Ability to construct alternative positive problem resolutions.
* Flexibility in day-to-day actions and duties.
Required Length and Type of Experience
* Three (3) to five (5) years experience relating to the assigned service.
Required Licensure, Certification or Registry
* Licensure as an RN in the State of Ohio
* Current Certificate of Authority (COA) to practice as a Certified Nurse Practitioner or
* Certified Nurse Midwife.
* Current certification as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, or grand-fathered, as prescribed by the Ohio Board of Nursing.
* Current CTP or CTP-E to prescribe medications.
* Standard Care Arrangement with a collaborating physician upon hire.
* BCLS certification in all areas or must obtain same within first year of employment.
* ACLS, PALS, NRP certification may be required for specific patient care areas.
Required Physical and Environmental Demands
* Requires full range of body motion, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires sitting for extended periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries item weighing 50-100 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
